Global options

Global options are custom questions or add-ons that apply to selected workshops/classes/tours and all services or none of the services (in a Bookeo Appointments account). For example, you can set up global options to offer merchandise and add-ons for multiple workshops/classes/tours.

Bookeo Appointments

This section explains how to set up global options in a Bookeo Appointments account.

In a Bookeo Appointments account, global options can apply:

  • to all services or none of the services listed in Settings>Services offered and additional options.
    Global options cannot be configured to apply exclusively to selected services. You should set up regular options instead.
  • to all or selected workshops listed in Settings>Workshops.

 To set up global options:

  1. Go to Settings>Booking preferences
  2. Go to the Global options tab and click on the New option button

You can set up a dropdown, checkbox, or number additional option. Click here to learn more.

In the Restrictions section of the option, you can choose the specific workshops to which the option applies. You can also set if the option applies to all your services. Click here to learn more.

Where global options show

All global options show in Settings>Booking preferences, in the Global options tab. 

For specific activities, the applicable global options are shown in the Options tab under the Global options section.

Global options and new services

When you set up a new service in Settings>Services offered and additional options, existing global options that in the Restrictions section of the option:

  • apply to every type of activity will automatically apply to the new service
  • do not apply to all services will automatically not apply to the new service.

Global options and new workshops

When you set up a new workshop in Settings>Workshops, existing global options that:

  • apply to every type of activity will automatically apply to the new workshop
  • apply to specific workshops will automatically not apply to the new workshop. You can select that the option applies to the new workshop.

If you duplicate a workshop, global options that apply to the source workshop will automatically apply to the duplicate workshop.

Bookeo Classes and Courses

This section explains how to set up global options in a Bookeo Classes and Courses account.

Global options and new classes

When you set up a new class in Settings>Classes, courses, events, existing global options in the Restrictions section of the option:

  • apply to every type of activity will automatically apply to the new class
  • apply to specific classes will automatically not apply to the new class. You can select that the option applies to the new class.

If you duplicate a class, global options that apply to the source class will automatically apply to the duplicate class

This section explains how to set up global options in a Bookeo Tours and Activities account.

To set up global options:

Global options and new tours

When you set up a new tour in Settings>Tours and Activities, existing global options in the Restrictions section of the option:

  • apply to every type of activity will automatically apply to the new tour
  • apply to specific tours will automatically not apply to the new class. You can select that the option applies to the new class.

If you duplicate a tour, global options that apply to the source tour will automatically apply to the duplicate tour.

Disable a global option

If you no longer offer a global option, you can disable it in the Permissions section of the option, so it will no longer show for new bookings. Click here to learn more.

When a global option is disabled in the Permissions section, you will retain data for existing bookings.

Change a regular option into a global option

You may already have set up a regular option, and now want to apply it in multiple activities as a global option for more efficient management.

Although it is not possible to change an existing regular option into a global option, you can follow these steps:

  1. Create the new global option as you normally would, ensuring it has the same type and name as the existing regular option.
  2. Disable the old regular option by ticking the checkbox "This option is enabled for new bookings" in the Permissions section of its settings page. Click here to learn more

DO NOT delete existing regular options

If you delete existing regular options, all data linked to those options in existing bookings will also be deleted.
If you, instead, disable existing regular options, existing bookings will not be impacted, while new bookings will utilize the new global option instead of the regular option. Click here to learn more
