Types of resource vs resources

In Bookeo, Types of resource and Resources are used to organise and manage the people, rooms, and vehicles you need to provide your services.

  • Types of resource are categories used to group similar resources. For example, you might create Types of resource such as Therapists, Instructors, Rooms, or Boats. A type of resource describes the kind of resource you need, rather than a specific individual or item.

  • Resources are the actual people, rooms, vehicles, within each type of resource. For example, under the Therapists type of resource, you might have Sarah, Olivia, and Emma. Under Rooms, you might have Room 1 and Room 2.

Once your resources are set up, you can specify which resources are required for each service, or assign them to your tours/classes schedules.

Example set up of Types of resource and Resources

If you run a boat tour and need one captain and one boat for each tour, in your account, you should set up 2 Types of resource:

  • The type of resource Captain [1], and list all your captains (Resources) [2] under that type of resource, for example, Peter and Sam.

  • The type of resource Boats [3], and list all your boats (Resources) [4] under that type of resource, for example, Fishing boat, Sailing boat 1, Sailing boat 2.

You should create only one type of resource for each category of resources, such as boats, and add all individual boats as resources under that type. Creating multiple Types of resource for the same category will clutter your calendar view, making it difficult to monitor bookings across all resources of the same type - for example, all your boats - on a single screen.
